   Proposal Description:
   Individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) are at high risk of developing dementia and/or Alzheimer???s disease (AD).  Among persons with MCI, depression and anxiety have been associated with increased risk of incident dementia. The objective of this analysis is to determine whether neuropsychiatric symptoms in MCI increase risk of incident dementia (all-cause, AD, or frontotemporal dementia [FTD]). The main outcome measures are: 1) Progression to dementia (all-cause, AD, or FTD) 2) Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire (NPI-Q). 3) Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). 4) Clinical Dementia Rating Global Score and Sum of Boxes (CDR-Sum. 4) Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE).  The association of covariates with risk of incident dementia, AD, and FTD will be evaluated with hazard ratios (HR) determined by Cox proportional-hazards models adjusted for age, ethnicity, CDR-Sum, and MMSE.
